A happy and healthy community exists when you have good neighbours.
Since 2011 highjinx has been a safe space where everyone feels welcome to be who they are. Where there is no red tape, assessment or judgment. Over the years we have been finding the balance between a shop and a community hub for all our neighbours that feels like home. It provides a sense of belonging and acts as a family that many do not have.
Thanks for helping us help others.

Our Mission
neighbours helping neighbours. it’s simple.
43%
of our neighbours live in unsafe housing.
62%
of neighbours we serve live on the streets.
100%
are human beings.
At highjinx we have a Community Food Pantry that Neighbours can access daily. We share food donated by farms, restaurants, community groups, families, churches, organizations.
In our backyard we have a community garden that provides fresh food. A comfortable space for people to gather. And an open kitchen window.
15,000+
meals served each year.
77%
of food donated is canned.
23%
of food donated is fresh or frozen.
We take donations of things for our Community Furniture Bank that Neighbours can freely access to get the housewares they need to make their house a Home. Large furniture donations take a bit of pre-planning so get in touch with us regarding those as we prefer to donate directly to those in need avoiding costly storage and transportation costs.
Being that we do not take Government funding, we rely on donated items we can resell to pay the rent. Cleaning out your house can really help us help!
80,000
househould items are given out each year.
5000
neighbours use the furniture bank annually.
0%
of our neighbours are asked to provide proof of income.
